Our Origins
At Kyloe Design, everything begins with respect — for materials, for process, and for where we come from.
The story traces back to a small village in the Scottish Borders, where weekends were spent in a quiet workshop with my grandad, Gordon. The scent of timber and the rhythm of hand tools shaped an early understanding of craft, patience, and proportion.
Gordon wasn’t just a maker — he was a teacher. He taught that good design is honest, that materials should be treated with care, and that well-made things are built to last. Those lessons remain the foundation of Kyloe Design today.
The studio was founded as a tribute to both Gordon and the village of Kyloe — a name that carries the quiet pride of heritage and the belief that simplicity, done well, endures.
Today, Kyloe Design creates bespoke joinery and furniture defined by longevity and integrity.
Our workshop blends modern precision with traditional craftsmanship, and Gordon’s original tools are still in daily use — a reminder that while methods evolve, the essence of true craftsmanship never changes.
